Location
Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality is the district headquarters of Khotang, located about 250 km east of Kathmandu. It lies in Province No. 1 at elevations between 469m – 2,963m above sea level. The area is known for its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and historical importance.
How to Reach Diktel
By Road : From Kathmandu, buses and jeeps leave for Diktel. The journey takes about 8–9 hours. Roads are winding and can be bumpy in some sections, but the scenic landscapes make the trip enjoyable.
By Air : Nepal Airlines operates flights from Kathmandu to Khanidanda Airport (near Diktel) twice a week (Thursday & Saturday). The flight takes around 30 minutes, followed by a short drive to Diktel.
Tip : Road travel is more flexible, but flights save significant time if available.
Accommodation
Diktel is a small hill town with basic but comfortable hotels and lodges. Facilities are modest compared to Kathmandu:
Hotels/Guesthouses: Available in Diktel town. Rooms usually come with attached bathrooms, hot water (sometimes solar-heated), and Nepali/Continental meals.
Homestay: Available for limited participants.
Electricity & Internet: Power supply is available, but expect occasional cuts. Mobile data (NTC/Ncell) works better than Wi-Fi.

Food & Dining
- Nepali set meals (Dal-Bhat with vegetables/meat) are the staple.
- Local dishes from Rai, Newar, and Tamang communities can be tried.
- Few restaurants serve noodles, momo, fried rice, and tea/coffee.
- Tip: Carry some dry snacks or instant food for convenience.
Weather & Clothing
The conference will take place in winter. Participants should be prepared for cold temperatures, often reaching as low as 2–3°C in the mornings and evenings.
- Days are generally cool and clear, but nights can be chilly.
- Warm clothing (jackets, sweaters, scarves, gloves, and hats) is highly recommended.
- Hotels and venues may not have centralized heating, so packing extra layers is essential.
